This is seriously seriously why I told people not to believe NYT about the report from a staffer about Biden not supporting trans kids surgeries. Cause nobody was named and because the only source was them. And no word from Rachel Levine
The was an all-hands WH staff meeting today before Biden met with the Governors tonight. In both meetings, he was emphatic that he's not going anywhere. Biden is the nominee, folks. You can either back him or undermine him.
Like, if he doesn't have the stuff to campaign, we'll find out pretty quick as he campaigns. There's no scenario where Biden being incapable doesn't come out, but everyone wants this to happen on Twitter time
He's gotta come through with the Stephanopoulos interview & a couple of unscripted public appearances or press conferences in the very near future. I think he can do that. After that the story dies down somewhat, because he will be impossible to replace as the nominee.
The last big test is the September debate & I hope to god they have a better plan than last week. If I really thought he could bow out & the new nominee would be treated at least neutrally, I'd entertain the thought.
I suspect the NYT has a slew of "Voters Hate Kamala's Voice" stories waiting.
Oh yeah.
And people always turn on women when they seek positions of power. Even well liked women suddenly become hated shrews when they run for office.
