Their already tepid block system was the only thing that made it useable when I was still using it
I mean this is as close to fully removing blocking, which is what hes wanted this whole time

People will attribute this kind of move to stupidity but the guy is just straight up doing a Cambridge Analytica 2 on a much, much wider scale by making the platform as extremist as possible now.
IIRC Elon at some point said he wants to remove blocking entirely.
Which he literally can't do because law.
