Nothing of value was lost here. He did all this wanting Bluesky to be a big thing about crypto and whatever, and left after the userbase rebuked all of that and decided this place needed to be far more gay, trans, furry and laughing at his shitty crypto stuff.
It doesn’t help that by all accounts the crypto bubble has simply popped, the general public recognizes more and more each day that crypto is just funny money and money laundering tools
Also LOL the irony of saying shit like this while he's backing one of THE worst CEOs in existence, used to be a CEO for Twitter and is currently a CEO for some crypto related place called Square
Square is a payment processor largely for small business, actually one of the more legit things Jack has done over the years.
Many of those little card readers that work with phones are Square devices.
You're thinking of Block Inc., btw, which is now the parent of Square (along with a bunch of other stuff), which invests heavily in crypto-related nonsense and has their own hardware wallet thing called Bitkey. Whatever the fuck that means.
Hypothesis: Jack (a) wants Elon's approval but (b) believed that Elon really was for that free-speech jazz and would be happy about there being a new, fully-open social platform. But Elon took it as a betrayal (it pulls eyes away from X). So Jack has to dump Bluesky to stay Elon's BFF.
Jack Dorsey’s a right wing moron, honestly it’s disappointing he was a board member on here in the first place. Bluesky will be far better off without his influence.
What are the chances of this affecting bluesky? Honestly, as I deleted my account from that cesspool owned by Musk, I don't care anymore about what becomes of it
People warned us that this was gonna happen.
Glad he left the Bluesky team, I guess. Whatever goes on, I guess I'll set up my own instance, fuck knows how.
Fast company is definitely one of the worst websites around. Bullshit auto play videos that take up half the screen and can't be dismissed (only minimised) making it far too distracting to actually read
