The only reply I got on Twitter is pussy in bio. Not helpful. We've put his air tag into missing mode so that hopefully it will ping iPhones nearby. I'm just gutted.
I'm sure if he was taken he's gonna bust out of there and be spotted by someone, they have no idea who they're up against! In all seriousness though I'm thinking good thoughts and holding out high hopes that he'll be back soon. Sorry this happened.
i’m just so sorry. you guys are being awesome pet parents and doing everything right. i really hope tomorrow brings good news and i hope yall get some rest as well
just watched a 6’3 burly tattooed man cry his eyes out being reunited with this baby. i guess his wife has been in the hospital and today was her first lucid day in awhile and she was so excited that she made him leave the hospital to come get her. 🥹
gately was missing for weeks shortly after i took her in <3 i spent days and days going out all night after work and stapling missing posters to every telephone pole within a mile radius of where i lived and eventually someone called and said she had broken into their basement and was crying
I reposted both here and on Twitter.
(Last time I escaped I had to dig under a fence. It was really tiring so I took a nap on the other side of the fence and it was caught almost immediately.)
Oh no!!! hope he's found soon. Your posts about his adventures are such a light on the skyline and bring so many people joy. Sending good vibes for his swift and safe return ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ we love Jeremy
If I could edit, I would add an update. This will work instead :-)
Apparently, it's not unreasonable, nor unheard of, that he could have busted right through the gate and gone up to 5 miles in a day!!
I live in a semi-rural area, & 5 miles would equal a very lost tortoise. (sorry, hope he's found)
Yeah, they are faster and go farther than you think. The "good news" as that he didn't leave till at least 3:00, and I don't move at night, so he shouldn't be that far yet
It's more the fact that they can't locate his tracker, which is kind of suspicious. Also...how does a tortoise open a big gate like that by itself? Not saying it's impossible, just seems a bit sus that both of those things are true.
He definitely bashed the gate open himself. His distance is why the airport won't read. Without another apple device to ping, we lose contact quickly. Like 60 years or something. It's just how they work.
Yep. One of our cats is indoor/outdoor. We tried to track her w/an airtag. She didn't mind the attachment on her collar, but as you note, once you get a certain distance from an Apple device, tracking is lost.
Yea, we tried a couple of GPS trackers for our cat too. Besides losing them, they have to have a separate cell service to really be usefull.
Maybe we can crowdsource a GPS/Cell Tracker for Jeremy after you get him back.
They don’t “open them” so much as “bulldoze through them”.
They are extremely strong, and in the wild can make 5 miles in a day.
Being unable to locate the tracker isn’t great, but him busting out his gate isn’t unusual.
