I wish I lived in a country where Donald Trump raping and sexually assaulting girls within Jeffrey Epstein’s child sex trafficking ring was treated with at least half the outrage and gravity of Joe Biden having one bad debate night.

Women in Idaho protest the strict abortion bans during the 4th of July parade in Sandpoint, Idaho. Shame on Idaho for treating women with such low regard. Vote for Democrats if you would like to see our government work for ALL of us.

6/ Maybe Biden needs to go; maybe not. But of this I'm certain: the US elite political media needs to be radically transformed, with most of its current practitioners consigned to the Albany beat.* *Yes, I am that mean. /fin

This is super important work. And it looks like it's actually having an effect. Normal people learn about Project 2025 and are scared as shitless as they should be. The Nation, The New Republic, Rolling Stone, Boston Review and others are doing the work that NYT and WaPo are neglecting.
We need more, but credit where due: both The Nation (June 2024 issue) and Boston Review have run a breakdown of the Project 2025 “Mandate for Leadership” document. Media Matters, too. Lots of good work going on digesting this. www.bostonreview.net/articles/ins... www.mediamatters.org/project-2025

The Heritage Foundation’s Kevin Roberts said this to Sebastian Gorka. "There are parts of the plan that we will not share with the Left: the executive orders, the rules and regulations. Just like a good football team we don't want to tip off our playbook to the Left." THERE’S MORE TO PROJECT 2025?!

debate. “This was his dream; I talked to him about it,” the GOP nominee said about Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. This “revelation” makes extorting Zelenskyy for weapons to defend against Putin even more disgraceful. And questions why he didn’t warn America.

Organizers got enough signatures to put a measure protecting abortion on the ballot in Arkansas. In *Arkansas*. They had *no national support*. Ignore the pundits melting down over not being treated as Very Special Boys. Dobbs has fundamentally changed elections. Everything they know is wrong.

When every single national media outlet is speaking in lockstep with Republican talking points about a candidate for president, that is a fundamental, societal level problem with bad implications for the future of democracy in the US. That people discount that is deeply disappointing.
I focus 90% of my criticism on media ethics and leadership because that is the foundation of how we establish a shared reality. Writing off media effects as immaterial or irrelevant, as if people form opinions about events outside their personal experience without mediation, is deeply ignorant.

For NYT/WaPo/NBC political reporters, it appears to them as “wow I wrote this story about Biden, and look at all the attention it’s getting, and the White House is responding!” Which doesn’t happen for Trump stories. Which is another way of saying that it’s about their power to act.
Part of what’s happening with the Biden political media freakout is about power to act. Journalists have felt feeble and useless during the Trump era. They write their usual articles about Trump and it has little effect on his approval. Not so with Biden.

Where are the columnists who are experts in specific fields, breaking down what the Heritage Foundation + Trump want to do to each individual federal agency? E.g. I read the section dedicated to our intelligence agencies, and had to stop, since I was starting to feel a little nauseous.

As always, I beg of all of you to read posts made to Trump's account as campaign communications and not individual rantings. This is the campaign telling the Project 2025 assholes not to screw up Trump's chances of winning.
Today in "Trump didn't write this, someone on his campaign staff did." I don't know if Kellyanne Conway is working for Trump these days but this feels more like her style, voice, and syntax than Trump or those posting on his behalf recently.

Hey @nytimes.com, as a subscriber, can I ask, and I mean this as respectfully as I can… What the hell was the editorial board of thinking by publishing a piece exhorting the virtues of not voting authored by a right-wing operative who does, in fact, vote and releasing it today, of ALL days.
