The thing is, the judge and his family are going to need this protection for the foreseeable future whether or not Trump gets off scott free but loses the election, is POTUS again or ends up in jail. ALL the judges involved in Trump crime cases will never be safe again.

I would not blame the judge for trying to keep himself and his family safe. I think it is absolutely acceptable for a judge to delay a controversial ruling while security services can be arranged. I think it is very foolish to attack the judge instead of the people making the threats.
