to my recollection De Blasio was never GOOD but sometimes I think about how he got markedly worse after the NYPD threatened to kidnap his daughter. I’m sure everything’s normal

Oh, he was terrible - it took the NYPD basically one moment to completely cow him, even before the business with his daughter. Bad political instincts and zero integrity. But Adams is malevolent.

At this late remove, I can't find documentation but there was definitely a "nice biracial son you have there, Mr. Mayor, shame if he was to, y'know, get broken, accidentally y'know" incident *very* early in DeBlasio's first term and DeBlasio never recovered.

He got all lame after they turned their backs to him at a cop funeral. And then later his kid, who I’m pretty sure was under 18, got picked up at a protest and the cops via the gross ass union leaked the full booking info. poss on Twitter. It was gross and very NYPD.

It just gets truer and truer. And De blasio was beyond lame and basic becky corrupt, but the dude did get us universal pre k which was huge, some more bike lanes and efforts to prevent pedestrian deaths. Adams has actively made all of those things worse on top of all his other garbage.

The best part was the press telling us we were enabling criminals if we didn’t like him.

Personally, my favorite was the press being so far up Andrew Yang’s ass that they barely reported on Adams’s batshitness and LONG RECORD OF ACTUAL CORRUPTION

Commuting to a job in the city from a high rise in Fort Lee and occasionally crashing at his son’s place was like the only thing that’s normal and reliable about him.
