Reminder that this woman has no medical expertise, no expertise on trans people and as far as I know, no qualifications in counselling

"academic" does the heavy lifting here

I don't want to be in the business of policing who is and is not a "feminist." But, it's worth noting that her writing wasn't really concerned with feminism until she came out as anti-trans. I wouldn't characterize someone like that as a "feminist academic." 🤷

At best she's a very bad one, considering the depth of ignorance this indicates. That therapy is something like twice as old as I am, developed for cis people like every other gender affirming medical intervention.

Actually, come to think of it maybe three times. Not sure when the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft started to work with hormones.

And I think Hirschfeld did work in the field before founding the Institut. I'm not great on specifics, tend to focus on trends rather than minute details in my study of history.

DailyMail readers being notoriously pro-feminist academic opinion.

More so trying to keep it in the public eye so they can keep piling pressure on Labour to keep backing it I'd say

Ugh and 😭! I was hoping the Yale report would reverse the rush to implement Cass but maybe it'll just take time.

Funny how the Mail usually has nothing but contempt for academics while in this case...

The ludicrous thing is that her subject is one they would usually consider the very height of the 'Mickey Mouse degree'

Oh they like the classical forms of philosophy. It's only the new fangled stuff that's offensive.

The fact her philosophical alignment was with extreme authorial intentionalism is v revealing imo. The colonial right to be one of the determiners. Never the determined.

My bad, I thought they hated everything that wasn't STEM and history as long as it's just a list of dates of battles

They're a fan of anything that can be taught as a system of absolute immutable laws I think. They'll be going after Einstein and Heisenberg eventually too.

She also has interesting reading options!?!?

That would be her pal Helen "I like reading dodgy HP fanfic on trains" Joyce, she's the friend of Self-IDed neo-nazis and thinks they are "great":
Kathleen Stock reaffirming her support for Nina, even after everything that has come out in that case...

Counselling would have just meant I transitioned sooner.

Bitter academic with bad haircut opens mouth as expert on something she isn't. She should cram it.

By the same logic, as a network engineer, I call for her to stop speaking until she is in her late 90s since she needs a lot of counselling. My qualifications are just as relevant to my claim as hers are to her claim, so I look forward to her shutting up immediately. :)

All her qualifications are in Philosophy . thats it .

Doctor Mario is more qualified to comment on these matters.
