COMPROMISE: Baldwin’s interpretation is the best for the younger Jack Ryan, which means he should’ve played him in Red October and Patriot Games. Ford plays him better as he ages and advances in his career (C&PD, Sum of All Fears, and the Debt of Honor movie we never got).

The @solidverbal.bsky.social guys talked about this a few weeks back, but essentially the test won’t be “will fans/alumni of [insert school] continue to watch their team?” but “Will they watch that second or third game as often as they used to?” Some might; I likely won’t.

I think the mistake college football is making isn’t so much changing with the times so much as it’s “undifferentiating” itself from the broader sports market. Being more like the NFL won’t bring NFL-level success, it’ll just lead to more people watching the better version of the same product.

I have (I think) a healthy skepticism of AI as a business model because tech breakthroughs aren’t always visible on the horizon, or even right in front of our faces. Because of that, fake it til you make it is how they keep the lights on. But I believe we’ll get there, slowly then all at once.
