The idea that police aren’t primed for a violent confrontation by ShotSpotter alerts conveniently ignores that police are also primed for violent confrontations by making a traffic stop, hearing acorns drop on a cruiser, and any number of interactions with residents in over-policed neighborhoods.

"around the globe"? Is that like the "World Series" where only the USA (and Canada) takes part? Maybe I've missed something, but the map seems to only show locations in the US. Which is not "around the globe". But then this technology would be mostly pointless in eg Europe where guns are rare

Have you considered that maybe the leaked data (the incitement for the article) contains locations globally, but that 99% of them are in the US, so that's why they used a map of the US? I mean, I'm down with raging against Amerocentrism, but sometimes y'all just look for offense, I swear.

Well, if it makes you happy, then all is fine. And no, I stand by my point. A few dots in RSA don't make this a global thing. 98%+ of their operations are in the US, they have tiny installations in RSA and one other country (yes, I did a few minutes further checking).

"Around the globe" in my books means in dozens of countries, not three (and then 98%+ of that in one).

Being shot dead will be as common as catching a cold in the US, in less than 20 years. Nothing can stop you indulging in your love of killing each other.
