Because I hate myself, I checked Fivethirtyeight a few weeks ago. At the time, they favored Trump 52-48 out of 100 poll-based simulations. I checked again today to see how bad it had gotten after the debate and shooting. Now they favor Biden 54-46.

As others have noted, Kat is amazing. If you have editing needs, she's well worth the investment.
I have openings (current and future) in my editing calendar. I do developmental edits of novels and novellas in multiple genres. More info here: www.kathowardbooks.com/editing Happy to answer any questions!

And birthday trip to a water park completed. Today it was Myrtle Waves in Myrtle Beach since we're here on vacation. Not bad overall, but definitely not a top tier water park.

Myrtle Beach, you really didn't have to save up all your humidity just for me.

I hate to say it, but the act of voting is just about the only time a real "cold equations" kind of mentality makes sense. You vote for the option that can win that hurts the fewest number of categories of vulnerable people. But after that moment you start fighting whoever won to protect everyone.

My daughter and I went to the Georgia Aquarium today as a fun outing. It was good to ignore for a bit.

I finally caught up on Interview with the Vampire. As someone who adores the Vampire Chronicles books, I have to note this was amazingly well done and I'm looking forward to Season 3.

@dungeondudes.bsky.social's video about what cantrip you'd want to be able to cast in real life got an immediate response from me: Prestidigitation. Please let me be able to cast a spell and have something immediately be clean. Please and thank you.

This is important to keep in mind. At a Federal level, there are three major goals: - Democrats retain the White House - Democrats retake the House of Representatives - Democrats obtain a filibuster proof majority in the Senate All of these are important, but the Senate one is the biggest one. 1/?
Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise

The 14th Amendment says if you were involved in an insurrection you can't be president. SCOTUS said they won't allow anyone to enforce that because of reasons they made up. The Constitution doesn't say the president is immune from criminal law. SCOTUS decided he is because of reasons they made up.

"With fear for our democracy, I dissent," is about as bedrock and terrifying and vital a statement as you're going to get. That's a line you spraypaint on walls, that you ink into your skin. And it's chilling that it is necessary to say at all.
Justice Sotomayor, in conclusion.

Bullshit ruling. Is it complete and utter bullshit? Close to it. It does, however, delay things even more as we start the process over for the District Court to rule that things relating to the election weren't official acts and Trump to appeal it again. www.cbsnews.com/news/supreme...
Supreme Court says Trump has immunity for official acts in landmark ruling on presidential powerwww.cbsnews.com The Supreme Court on Monday ruled that former President Donald Trump is entitled to immunity from federal prosecution for official actions he took while in office.

@librarinista.bsky.social I picked up the foot long cookie today at Subway. It's actually pretty good. The "bread pans" are specific to the cookies and they're served in them. It's a very soft chocolate chip cookie, which is nice.

Having a beta reader's initial response be, "This is a book I could see myself returning to again and again" when I know, like me, he's someone who regularly rereads favorite series, is high praise indeed. Maybe I can actually write quality prose.

This is why it's important to read what the decision actually says. This is similar to other rulings that were rejected due to standing without actually ruling on the merits of the issue itself.
This is not what they ruled; they ruled than an injunction can stay in place while the case proceed through the lower courts. This headlines makes it sound like the Court vindicated the right to an emergency abortion; they did not.
