Hard to sustain a functional democracy when 1 in 4 people believe that society is run by Satan-worshipping pedophiles.
From the AVS report: “Since March 2021, the share of QAnon believers has increased significantly, from 14% to 23% today. The percentage of Americans who completely reject QAnon beliefs has significantly decreased from 40% to 29% in 2023.” 2/

The internet was a mistake.

Given the history of American Protestantism, id assume this is a low point.
It’s ridiculous. Especially since every intelligent person knows the Freemasons run society. Them and Mary Kay resellers.

The thing that drives me insane is that QAnon predictions have been wrong over and over and over but somehow more people are getting sucked in?

This survey never mentions QAnon. Just Q-Adjacent conspiracies.

The conspiracy is constantly evolving and the bait-casters are constantly teasing that the big reveal is “just around the corner”. It’s a constant cliffhanger literary device - similar to how Dan Brown writes books with a cliff at the end of every chapter that makes you think the reveal is coming.

Well, Don, you see, once upon a time a Black guy got to run the country and as a result a large subset of white people decided they'd rather not have a democracy than let a POC run it no matter how good he did at it.

This is like trying to run a diesel engine on 25% milk.

@travisview.bsky.social This doesn't feel like a total shock as a longtime listener to the Qanon-anonymous podcast

Peoples' brains are apparently just mush these days after being marinated in internet conspiracies for years. At the same time I don't think the pollsters did a very good job differentiating QAnon from other conspiracies or capturing how strongly people believe these things.
Avatar
This breakdown from an earlier version of their survey suggests the numbers are being boosted somewhat by people who may not be hardcore QAnon followers or who may not even understand what they were going for with lines like "there is a storm coming..."
Avatar
This also has to be put in perspective...large percentages of Americans (and humans in general I'd guess) believe in all kinds of insane things. Around 40% believe ghosts are real and a similar number for UFOs. 10% claims they have personally seen a UFO.

Our constitutional order is based on the shared goal expressed in the Preamble: "in Order to form a more perfect Union..." The problem is that a lot of people do not want to be united.
We’ve always had ‘em, just that now they all have guns, and have been exhorted to point them in our direction. Sorry, I don’t make the rules.
Avatar
that's hardly fair, I'm sure a decent number of "QAnon believers" don't embrace to that delusional core belief so much as accept it to justify the eschatological aspect where a right-wing strong man coming into power will violently purge all liberals from society wait that's also pretty bad.
Avatar
Especially when they are, in fact, Satan-worshiping pedophiles themselves

“if you can keep it.” But it’s the rest who are willing to have a tryst with disaster because of some selfish desire to just get theirs. (The pandered just has to “tell them” they are “in” so it’s all good.)

I wish there was a simple answer.

well matt gaetz still has a seat in congress so they ain't exactly wrong

Isn't it Satan-worshipping pedophile CANNIBALS? Who are actually alien lizard people wearing skin suits? Drinking the blood of new born infants?

*1 in 4 white people If you can't point this part out, you're not helping fix the problem. White americans have lost their minds and the problem is never approached by the media.

Avatar
Seems more concerning that only 29% of Americans completely reject "that society is run by Satan-worshipping pedophiles."

Given the state of US Domestic and Foreign policy, the deplorable nature of its leadership, and the non-zero number of pedophile islands that have hosted sitting and future presidents, 1 in 4 feels low.

wait, maybe they're just the only people still answering telephones

And believe the most flaw entity ever is sent by the savior.

Goddamn it. That fucking guy is going to win in November and I’m going to either be sent to prison or killed while “resisting arrest”.

There's a conspiracy to make that graph look phallic.

I'm just hoping this is evidence of increasing sampling bias and polls are worthless now.

JFK Jr. did not reveal himself, as was foretold, in Dealey Plaza...so why are these people still believing? It's total cult mindset...like the end-of-the-world fundamentalists who demand the end is near (and give a date) but that comes and goes w/o incident so they make up excuses.

That’s just the adrenochrome talking

Fundamentalist blowback. Who could have predicted it eh?

Maybe a study needs to be done again. Maybe several studies.

Good thing we haven't had to do that
