Strange Horizons has been doing top notch work in fiction, criticism, and essays on the SFF fields for more than twenty years, and has been consistently passed over for the Hugo. I hope that this year, voters finally give them their due.
This is the last week of Hugo Award voting and we would like you to consider Strange Horizons for Best Semiprozine. For over 20 years, Strange Horizons has been publishing weekly issues filled with new stories, poems and non-fiction. Here are some more reasons you should vote for us below!

Old renewables guy here: There is a mind blowing amount of work that goes into these, and the last one I saw behind the scenes was a decade ago. Peak oil demand was decades away then. Renewables have been advancing at an incredible pace.

We would all prefer the structural engineer who would make the building fireproof, but I’m still going to vote for the fireman over the fire.
Look, I've voted in every midterm and presidential election since 1990, the first year I was eligible. I wish there was a president I wanted to vote for this year, but I sure as hell want to vote against Project 2025.

Hey, so. I understand that this is anecdotal and not research, but. It is WILD how useless social media has become for promo. It's a fucking disgrace, really.

hello new followers! if you found me via my request for assistance to create Project 2025 Memes… please reply below if you’re interested in helping with either research/planning, writing, design, meme seeding, etc we’re going to set up a slack channel 💜
yes! awesome. i think the power move here is to create meme graphics that can be shared in various groups eg i found posts against project 2025 in my celiac group, bc of the food label shit they’re pulling it has HUGE potential to reach normies and even people who otherwise might vote trump

Again the proper response to Stephen Miller or Donald Trump or anyone claiming to not be in lockstep with Project 2025 is just to ask them “what part do you disagree with?”

This is the explicit goal of an astonishing amount of paid (and paid for!) propaganda out there. If you're feeling voting doesn't matter, maybe consider why it is so many people are spending so much money, time, effort and ad space trying to convince you not to.

well-said.
If living in horrible times has taught me one thing, it's that many of these conversations are better had in-person, especially when existential doom is involved. Because at least in those spaces, we can hug each other.

a thing to remember, in all of this horror, is that these are not the actions of a political party that is confident it represents the will of the people, and who is currently out of power and enslaved to a deeply flawed avatar. the struggle is not over and they have not won

A few years ago, Jon Lovett floated a theory that media treats Democrats like protagonists - to be challenged, accounted, and forced to be behave in growth-oriented ways - while the GOP are treated like antagonists - immutable, expected to disrupt, thematic obstacles. Thinking about that a lot.
I don’t recall the NYT calling for Trump to step down after being convicted of 34 counts of fraud and being called by a judge at his civil trial a rapist in the common person sense

This election is about values, not policies. It was *always* about values and not policies. This was obvious to anyone with half a brain-cell from the first day that Trump announced he'd be running again. Every single comms person who does not get that should be given their severance and a reference

Let me tell you a real boring story! Last year, a queer artist in my community put up a cool Pride installation. Then some bigots used it to hang bigot flags and threatened to sue the city if they took down the bigot signs without also taking down the (admittedly unauthorized) art piece…
