Everyone responsible for this moment needs to be removed from their position and forced to work at minimum wage in a job they would typically try to fill with low-paid immigrants.

Start with the State legislators who made this happen.

Agreed, but that's a good chunk of the state. Starting with the lawmakers, but including probably 20-30% of the population at minimum. There aren't that many rock picking jobs.

Sure there's more than a few factory positions out there that the management is complaining that "nobody wants to work anymore".

Get used to it. I wouldn't get pregnant in any of these backwaters.

About 750k people live in the Boise metro area, and Boise is a pretty progressive city. We deserve access to healthcare too. That said, Dobbs absolutely accelerated my timeline to get a hysterectomy. My ob-gyn is excellent and I doubt she stays here much longer.

I love Boise actually ❤️

Or drive through at all.

Some people are stuck there. They don't need to hear your plans for non-solidarity. No one else does either. Bit harsh I know but this does not help anyone at all.

Saying folks should avoid states where they could come to harm is not advocating non-solidarity.
Avatar
Yes it is. If you're struggling with reading comprehension or the meaning of words, there are dictionaries. They're free.

That's not entirely true, they were amugly announcing their ability and intent to avoid them. But regardless, millions of people are stuck there and repeatedly explaining how much you despise those people ... is why fascism might win again. Because liberals cannot help but usher it in. 🤦‍♀️

I hope you will take the time to consider what an utterly unhelpful sentiment this is to the people who live in the places you so deride.

I am not optimistic about this hope, but I do hold it for you

You’re a cunt and I wish only the worst for you💜

why would you tell anyone to get used to this?

As my daughters enter adulthood over these next few years, I’ve told them to be very wary of which states they might move to. Stay blue to stay safe.

Both my daughters (23 & 25) moved to the 🇺🇸 from 🇨🇦 in the last few yrs and our Dr made sure they both had fresh IUDs before they left. It’s the new reality

My daughter wouldn’t even consider college in a red or purple state.
Avatar
I won’t let the kid go to college in a state with bans or even party there. Spring break? Go to Europe.

it's pretty clear that Republicans believe the only value women have is for sex and to birth children. if they can't, or are too much trouble, they might as well die.
Avatar
That part, the thing is, we have been here before. Black women were forced to have babies when slaves. So I sincerely hope that WW (leaning conservative) realize what this means for them and vote accordingly. They skated while benefitting from white supremacy. That is over.

“‘If I need saving, you’re not going to help me?’ she recalls asking. She remembers his answer vividly: ‘He told me he wasn’t willing to risk his 20-year career.’” If you’ll risk your patient’s life to save your career, your career isn’t worth saving.
We can't have a system where every medical provider has to be a hero to do their job.
Avatar
We certainly *shouldn’t* have such a system.
Avatar
And we can’t. It’s never going to be up to a single physician within the entire system.
Plus in some of these cases it would take getting an OR, anesthesiologists, nurses, techs residents etc in addition to a physician trained to perform a D&E or D&C

Sometimes I think about the 2010 midterms and how we got here to 2024

In 2010 the story that got RH RealityCheck’s most views was when my story about Utah criminalizing miscarriages came out right after the bill passed. I remember the president of the Utah reproductive rights provider finally returning my call after it was clear it would pass. She was…

…as devastated as I’d ever heard any person in her position in repro justice be at that time in my life. The headline “Utah Criminalized Miscarriages” got the attention of media outside Utah finally. (State bills banning abortion weren’t such a huge story in 2010). It embarrassed the governor..
Avatar
After catching national reporters notice, the governor got embarrassed s for for a scant few days, the Republican government of Utah scrambled to make the bill’s language more explicit that a “regular” miscarriage wouldn’t be prosecuted (shrug emoji). The bill became a law btw

Might as well keep going…so here’s the origin of that 2010 move by Utah Republicans to criminalize miscarriages. There was an incident in very rural Utah where a teenager girl, impregnated by an adult, paid another adult to CAUSE her to miscarry by hitting her in the stomach WITH A BAT…
