Going through some of my deceased mom's archives, I found some old high school era photos of me. I was not as dorky as I had remembered...although the leisure suit was not ideal. More amazing, though, were pix of my parents as newlyweds. They looked like cool people you would want to chill with.

Durbin pulling his punches so as not to “ruffle the feathers” of Republicans is yet another example of preemptively attempting to prevent an expected backlash. Trying to placate the right in this way has failed over and over again, and it is important to note that the GOP rarely if ever does this.

Your periodic reminder that Medicare For All would save $450 billion in health care costs and 68,000 lives per year.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. This applies not just to politicians or celebrities, but also to students and colleagues. It's delusional to think you can change someone. The best you can hope to do is create favourable conditions for them to change themselves.
