I love that the Times just has guest essays on that say whatever the fuck they want to and the Times is just like 'well what can we do they wrote it?' and its like well you could not publish trash I guess
Having Asian roommates in grad school made me pick up this norm, and the shoe rack at my door typically gives people the hint. But I get annoyed when it doesn’t.
I mean the courtesy cuts both ways, you know? Canadians take their shoes off as a rule but I’m not going to make a Federal case out of it if someone doesn’t. On the other hand, if you notice shoes by the door and other people without their shoes, I would hope you’d take yours off.
I am much less offended by someone accidentally spilling something than I would be by someone who refused to remove their shoes when asked. I sometimes bring “inside shoes” or slippers if I’m going to a friends where I know they have a “no outside shoes” policy.
