When I say "trans people deserve to grow old" this is what I mean

your afterlife is watching as your kids say "wow tools were built different back then" as global capitalism continues to degrade the quality of production
Avatar
*my* forties are all about figuring out where the fuck to PUT the power tools

and getting excited about bird feeders

Learned about cheap seed mixes and how they can attract rats....
Avatar
Oh yeah? Idk enough about any of it, but I bought some seed that is described as "energy mix" and I'm ready to watch these birds act like they're on speed
Avatar
I hung it next to a compost bin, and er lived near train tracks. It was like a Max Fleischer cartoon, birds and squirrels and chipmunks.. And then the music went minor key and the rats moved into the bin.
Avatar
*we... Moved the feeder away from the bin and switched to black oil sunflower seed. That worked for a while but the rats came back. Tried hot pepper oil to no avail. Settled for hot pepper suet cakes, win!

Bird Meth Mix - so mainly just Blue Jays.

I’m feeding crows (and a pair of scrub jays) peanuts in the shell. No feeder. Just rawdogging it. Wait…

I have a Milwaukee drill i have with a dildo bit

gonna follow my dream of buying a bench grinder and make tiny tiny swords for fun

alternatively, reject modernity, get a membership at a hacker space or tool library, and have unfettered access to tools you could only dream of owning for yourself
Avatar
Man, I wish. I'm in a metropolitan area of a million people, and the best I got is a 3D printer at the library. Which, I mean, nice going, library. But I'm trying to find a drum sander I can borrow and the one makerspace shut down years ago.
Avatar
oof, that sucks, and tbh, they need to be more common overall, cause often, even if they are present, they're too far apart for most people to use them, like, i live in a metropolitan area of 2.8 million, but have to drive the better part of an hour to get to the hacker space with all the good tools

ur 40s are all about wishing you could own a home
Avatar
I’m a cabinet and furniture builder that’s been in a highly professional installation position since 23 (33now), I probably own $60k easy of makita, Milwaukee and festool, and it’s Marvellous!!

thanks for reminding my ADHD ass that I still have my neighbors power drill I borrowed six months ago. I will surely forget this fact again before I remember to tell him.

If God intended for me to use a power tool more than once He wouldn't have given us Harbor Freight

Mid twenties I charged a bandsaw at Sears and paid $7 a month. How could I resist?
Avatar
30s for me saw the switch to hand tools. Planes, spoke shaves, chisels... More fun and they last longer.

got thru my twenties with like 4 power tools!

Subvert the trend. Leave the tools unpowered, become the power yourself.
