Extremely odd that there isn't enough room on a queen-sized bed for both one person and one cat :( guess I'll move over :(

Went out for lunch yesterday, took a substandard pic, drew some extremely substandard birds, will share later if anyone cares. My partner just wanted us away from the news, so we ate lunch in a park.

I keep remembering that the official Republican solution to gun violence is just... more gun violence. "The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" means the plan -- the only plan -- is that AFTER the shooting starts, there's more shooting. Prevention isn't even considered.

If you give a Nigerian a drink with a straw in it, you might find that they'll take the straw out and blow through it rigorously before drinking with it. It's not voodoo. Sometimes, in warm climes, small insects take refuge in straws. So we would always blow through first. I still do it on reflex.

I have hiked the Bright Angel trail in July and it does not fuck around in ‘normal’ Arizona temperatures. Don’t hike it in this heat, no matter how experienced you are. Come on.

I am currently looking for broths to add to the cat's diet. Mostly just to keep her interested in foods on bad days, but on hot days it would also be good because she doesn't want to eat much of anything, just lick up the gravy/broth bits. Haven't found one she really likes yet.

In my senescent phase of gaming: my warcraft characters are now carrying hundreds of bags of flour each because I can't remember if I already got them some and then I might as well get some more. Virtual hoarding is mitigation. Warcraft flour is cheap. Darkmoon Faire will return.

I have now nearly dropped a full pound of water on my foot twice in the last few hours and have now moved it to someplace where that will not happen again. If you're wondering why i didn't sooner, I dropped a bottle of four Tums on my foot while I was moving it.

We shall now play a game I like to call "Which three things did I knock over as I got up to grab some water and does it really matter if I pick them up." It's a modded version of Highlight's "Spot the differences", and it is no joke.

Hot take: I'm truly not interested in hand wringing over how much people will miss enjoying the books of men who have turned out to be abusers. I'm far more concerned about the missing art that women haven't been able to create/publish because they crossed paths with such men.

That said, if you splurge on delivery, tip as well as you're able - I tipped 50% once or twice during the heat dome a couple years ago (windfall). A lot of delivery people's cars don't have AC, and in this heat it might not be enough even if they do.

I live on a low floor. I can walk by my building and see my cat watching out the window. He recognizes me and you can tell it blows his little mind. When I get back into the apartment he runs out and meows at me, a little confused by the whole thing.

watched an octopus documentary and the narrator said they sometimes punch fish out of spite and I’ve never been more in love with anything in my life

We spent close to seven hours in bed with the cat today. She demanded treats and petting, so there may not have been a ton of sleep, but we did elevate our injured foot most of it. We *might* be able to take her to the vet on Wednesday, or my partner may go alone again.
