For a number of years now, The Spectator has also been publishing pieces by journalists usually regarded as being left wing, feminist, or centrist in Britain. Guess what those individuals happen to have in common with the likes of the Spectator? You guessed it, their stand on trans rights

I think the reason Philip K Dick is still the predominant SF writer of the last century is, he was the only one who foresaw a future where everything would be boring, inconvenient and dehumanising, and where the only way you can win is to somehow refuse to give up your humanity.

Olds College is having a Scavenger Hunt for Pride, with posters of historic Queer figures posted around campus. Someone vandalized the Rachel Carson poster, so we’re out here in the beautiful campus wetlands this morning reposting it. Happy Pride everyone. Stay vigilant.

It never feels like it, but sometimes *not* getting what you’re looking for can turn out to be the best thing — the project is originally set out to do was kind of interesting but kind of familiar, while the new one was, I think, a lot more interesting for me (and I hope readers too) /8

Happy pride! I wrote about the food that makes you gay, from jokes about ice cream to worries about soy, the long history of colonial fears about bodies and selves being able to change via food, and why that needn't be feared at all www.eater.com/24162871/foo...
The Food That Makes You Gaywww.eater.com Too many people grow up fearing what food might reveal about themselves. Maybe it’s time we embrace self-discovery.

The fundamental misunderstanding of what constitutes a "universal story" that's so prevalent among people who have never studied storytelling is the source of so much MBA-driven failure at large media companies
It is also worth noting that "universal" stories appeal to zero people, because no one lives a universal life. The more specific a story is, the more we relate to it even if we have a different life, because we recognize that the story feels real

The scary thing is that great damage is being done to the justice system, but it's coming from Elon Musk and the Republican establishment when they say shit like that. Getting the biggest megaphone in the world and saying "All juries are BULLSHIT" is not good for the justice system.

While the circumstances of Rogue’s absorption of the Carol Danvers persona are surreal and supernatural, they nonetheless provide an intriguing example of the concept of “restorative justice” in a manner that makes a compelling story at the same time. #xmen #rogue 1/9

In 2016, the She-Hulk character was handed over to an accomplished writer and given the pronoun-less title of “Hulk.” The story that unfolded, however, divided the fanbase, raising key questions about the role of character consistency in comics. #SheHulk 1/9

2014 #SheHulk got me back into Marvel comics
The 2014 #SheHulk series, penned by Charles Soule w/ pencils by Javier Pulido & Ron Wimberly and covers by Kevin Wada, features a strong cast of female supporting characters. And two characters, Hellcat/Patsy Walker and Tigra/Greer Nelson, have fascinating feminist legacies. 1/9
