It's a summer Friday. How about some music instead of whatever it is we're arguing about. Nick the Knife is a bit of a lesser Nick Lowe album. It's not necessarily bad, it's just inconsistent. But "Raining Raining" is a lovely little piece of '60s soul & a staple of his setlists.

There's a reference in here to other systems still making use of floppies & that's not entirely surprising. Replacing a specialized system tends to be expensive. If you've got something that works, where you already know all the quirks & the bugs that haven't been ironed out, why spend the money?

I didn’t expect the Americans to be so excited about the UK general election. Taking the whole day off AND fireworks?

While I'm posting about X & Alvin: I do wish they'd eventually get The Modern Sounds of the Knitters up on Bandcamp. Rounder Records, who own Zoë Records, is already there. So technically it should be possible.

Truth be told, as a performance I think Alvin's King of California recording is better. But damn, if it doesn't really foreground the sadness underpinning the song.
