Yes. When you see stuff from ACLU like this--or "letters" we send--know that it's often meant to serve as the first step in a progressive set of measures, i.e. asking the university "do you really want to go to court over this email signature because we got all day and nothing but lawyers"

These are not guidelines developed by serious people. I can't believe that the BoR had nothing more pressing to deal with than deciding what should or should not be in email signatures. How much time and paper was wasted in committees designing this nonsense?

Wow! I left one of the SD Board of Regents schools in 2022 and had my pronouns in my signature. Things must haven gotten (even) worse!

All faculty member should add pronouns, tribal acknowledgments (?) to their e-mail signature. This is a clearly discriminatory policy, and they wouldn’t/couldn’t terminate the entire faculty. University professors should feel a moral obligation to stand up to injustice like this.

Non-Native staff wouldn't have tribal affiliations to add, but yeah, other forms of solidarity would be great! (Though at this point I'm not actually sure a university wouldn't mass-fire a chunk of the faculty for Insubordinate Wokeness. Only one way to find out, I guess!)

Yeah, I wasn’t sure about what would be the best way to handle the tribal affiliation, because obviously not every staff would have that, but at the same time if everyone included just pronouns then I’m sure they could target the additional tribal affiliation as the fireable offense. So crazy!

I'd just move it above my signature and claim it isn't part of my signature. That isnt good enough, move it to my salutation line. If they want to be assholes I will work hard to out asshole them.

lol our university can only "suggest" what's in our signatures but we added an option for pronouns to the signature creator a couple years ago
