After seven years of estrangement, I got to sit on a couch with my mom today and cry as she spontaneously apologized for not recognizing I was trans and helping me when I was a kid. 🖤

I was picking out a movie to watch with my Norwegian grandmother while she's in hospice, and ended up inadvertently choosing a three-hour Danish drama about familial estrangement, death, and the importance of humility. That was a choice, all right
