Because this historical fallacy about Evangelicals is so pervasive and so compelling, I find myself repeating the same points: 1. Evangelicals did not become anti-abortion out of pure cynicism and in response to a failing racist strategy www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2022...
Perspective | What everyone gets wrong about evangelicals and abortionwww.washingtonpost.com Evangelicals started speaking out against legal abortion long before the late 1970s.

Finally at work on an academic article I've been meaning to write for quite a while on the forgotten pre-Roe legal history of religious/reproductive freedom cases.

Indiana! Last year I, along with other scholars, authored an amicus brief on behalf of faith groups who understood that Indiana's abortion ban was an infringement upon their religious freedoms. The Indiana Court of Appeals agrees!

Curious about what President Biden was signifying when he invoked "abortion on demand"? My latest piece explores the history of this phrase and how "women’s reproductive freedom is once again caught between tepid friends and declared enemies." therevealer.org/abortion-on-...

Hey friends - I'm having a little scholarship aphasia. Who writes about the history of women on the witness stand / believing women's testimony / the American legal system's sexualization/discrediting of women?

We often cite Handmaid's Tale to represent dystopian/ coercive reproductive politics. Are there other sci-fi or fantasy texts that would work as well or... even better to signify the same?

I'm stating the obvious but holy moly the new Beyonce album is a work of art from start to finish! The intentionality w/which it plays w/ genre, signifies, weaves in double consciousness (note the ii) and captures, as @scottpb.bsky.social notes, a whole AM dial mood... is spectacular. and the music!
