the “constantly talks shit about everyone all the time” act doesn’t work nearly as well if you’re not putting out the records to back it up (which is probably the only reason he’s not back in good graces, unfortunately)
Oh so Ryan Adams is still a piece of shit, huh. It’s super telling that an industry as forgiving as music has continued to stand on the side of “that guy really fuckin sucks as a person.”
ryan adams has always, his entire career, had a mouth whose checks his ass couldn’t cash, he had maybe four truly good records in him and he’s an unrepentant fucking creep
It’s fucking WILD because at any given moment Mandy Moore could almost certainly destroy him simply by tweeting some text screenshots and yet he STILL talks this level of shit
this is my theory for why he’s never really attempted to make a run at the “i’m truly sorry for what i have done and will make amends as best i can” celebrity scumbag manuever
Adams is definitely a better producer but his lyrics are pedestrian as fuck...Isbell could use a producer that doesn't make the obvious choices with his songs but he's the better songwriter in my opinion
Isbell's biggest problem imho is that the music choices are the absolute most obvious & i think it detracts from his songs...one i like a lot is this one...a really touching little song that entirely too obvious production wise

Isbell and Shires were also significantly involved in Adams' career and were good friends. Isbell releasing a statement basically dropping Adams as a friend and colleague and calling him out for being a lying piece of shit when it came to light that Adams is an abusive piece of shit obviously stung.
The last straw for me was when he "re-interpreted" an entire Taylor Swift album that had recently released and got a bunch of fawning critic handjobs for it.
"Oh, you're THAT kind of asshole."
If you’ve ever heard Phoebe Bridgers’s breakthrough single “Motion Sickness”, that song is about how big a piece of shit Adams is to date; Bridgers was also one of several women to accuse him of being an abuser.
It's my understanding Jason is one of that rare breed, liberal country singers. Is politics part of this or just stupid personal shit?
(could be both; it often is, in fact)
Thanks for this. I finally googled Ryan Adams and realized I had him confused with Bryan Adams. Will now go back to not knowing who he is and not caring.
