The Court ruling today is terrible but expected. I will just gently remind everyone that the election hasn’t happened yet. We shouldn’t assume the worst outcome as a foregone conclusion. That only encourages more apathy than many are already feeling.

I’ve been trying to despair less and act more, especially offline, but man, it’s impossible right now to feel anything but sorrow and fear. We must fight, build, and organize like never before, but goddamn is this such a sad, sad day.

You know you’re feeling more confident about your manuscript when you can let your spouse read it in front of you without wanting to crawl out of your skin

Don’t cling too closely to habits of how and when you write as your life changes over time. Writing demands time and sustained attention, so it’s important to remain flexible when it comes to your creative process if you want your writing to survive and thrive. Also: thank your editors.
