As my mom was dying in hospice I tried to make a list of all the sayings she had repeated over the years. Her explanation of the old slogan "Drive Defensively" matches what you say.

The winning song has been erased from history.

Yes, that is understandable.

A friend on Facebook posted a photo of his dog, and at first I thought it was one of your creations.

One of the reasons I love this painting is seeing my dear sweet Haley every time I look at it.

I was eight in 1976 and I knew about the World Trade Center! For...reasons.

That's a seventeen minute walk, assuming it existed back then and I knew it was there, which I didn't.

"No, let's not go to the restaurant we're standing in front of, let's look around for other options." Map showing location of Hard Rock Cafe. Other options have popped up in the 20+ years since this incident.

Here is a map of the area. Hard Rock is on one of the pier areas in the center, indicated by the red marker. We were standing outside of it when my friend began to feel unwell. I don't know what the other dining options were 20+ years ago when this happened.

That warning inspired me. (But I can't figure out how to slap that warning on this image, which kinda ruins the joke)

There was that movie with that little girl named Regan in 1973 that was very popular.

Light and Color in the Outdoors by Marcel Minnaert. It's nonfiction, a gorgeous book that revels in all the amazing stuff we can see if we just look - and the science behind it. Rainbows, auroras, sun pillars, shadows, and all sorts of amazing stuff we might take for granted.

Several great ones from 1984 have held up over the intervening decades. Here's one.

I have an idea, if they can secure the rights

Use a cast iron ribbed grill pan. 1. Heat empty pan to high 2, Reduce heat to medium and add buttered slice of bread 3. Add cheese 4. Top with buttered slice of bread 5. Cover 6. Flip after a minute 7. Flip again a minute later 8. Rotate and flip again to get crosshatching 9. Flip again

Behold, my crosshatched grilled cheese sandwich. No tomato soup, but ketchup will do in a pinch.

I think that's an actual doll. Notice the spot on the back that I believe was the button to operate the bionic action arm to lift the engine block (included.)
