My University art teacher told me "there's no such thing as a bad drawing, everyone has their own style. All you're learning here is the mechanical side of drawing"
And that stuck with me forever. I'm not a "good artist". But I still love to draw because of that mindset.
I'm of the opinion that ai art actually makes it so that only a few people can make art. Because it copies styles, there's no YOU in it. It can only ever be a mimicry of someone else's development. If everyone is just copying a handful of artists, then only those artists can make art.
of course, I don't think that's all it is. I do believe that there are ethical and creative ways to use generative ai as another tool in the creator's tool kit. But I think that this approach in particular is misguided at best and malicious at worst.
This is a really good point! The way image generation models work is by analysing the distribution of pixels across many similar images. It does that to figure out the patterns/rules it can use to generate new images that have a similar look and feel. We can still create, bend and break those rules

Yes you can sing, you just never learned how to or practiced. Just do it.
Example of “Anyone can cook, but only the fearless, can be great” like yea anyone CAN make art but it doesn’t mean they’re good at it. And if you wanna pursue art practice and get better. Ai art isn’t real art because art is a form of expression. Ai doesn’t do that.
Which is why I don't think AI art will take off. AI can't create anything new. It generates things based on what you give it. The human mind is a lot more than simple predictive algorithms, and I don't envision predictive "AI", however advanced it might be, replacing that.
AI art becomes a lot less impressive when you realize it isn't generating anything other than what you give it. And once people realize that, I think the idea of AI replacing artists will die out fairly quickly.
Right. But AI art is a great way for someone to get started and get them to experiment. And it can also be a great way to support storytelling. Look at The Thompson Extention on TikTok. That’s great use of AI.
That´s not true. AI can tremendously help get results and give people a way to visualize what's in their heads even if they have no talent for drawing or writing. And that's what it should be used for.
Okay, but let’s not call the use of such resources “talent”. Because it’s not and it will never be. And there lies the rub — many IA advocate hacks pretending to pass for something they’re not. I have friends who’ve already lost jobs due to this.
Ai art takes others art to sample something. If you use it for tracing just traces someone else’s art for practice. And if you claim it as your own then in a way that’s art theft. So there really is no point in using it
yeah but as long as they use other ppl's finished hardwork without consent, that basically mean if i were to use ai for making a concept, im basically stealing from them as well
we already have pinterest/stock images, & photoshop is a skill everyone can learn

I'm gonna be completely honest.. But this whole thing where people are under the impression that they NEED AI to be good at art.. It stems from the idiot belief that we've engrained in people have to be proficient enough at their hobbies that they can be monetized in order to actually enjoy them
