Another of my favorites #FromTheInspirationFolder Hermann Vogel (1854-1921) created the most wonderful worlds, chock-full of charming details and intricate linework. Just such a perfect example of the utter magic of drawing.

If you are thinking about making a comic, consider that you can print 50 issues of a 24 page greyscale A4 comic on 50lb uncoated paper with a colour cover and staple binding for $165
The other Western indie comic killer is the expectation that A) to stand out your comic must be in colour and B) you can’t sell your comic until you have 300 page library omnibus editions ready to go

There's a lot of gorgeous merchandise at the anime shows, and incredible skill: but they're not telling stories. If you wanna find good stories and storytellers, you go to zine shows in North America. Those are the cheap tables and the ones that are making comics.

Every once in a while Desperado will do a perfect German suplex out of nowhere, and it reminds me that the guy who taught Desperado to do a German suplex learned how to do one from the guy who invented them. #njpw

It's a shame that cinema's grand return to horniness appears to be led by Yorgos Lanthimos making movies like The Erotic Adventures of Edwina Scissorhands

Obviously this is a really high profile case, but it's hard to convey to people in other professions how much professional artists have to constantly deal with people who covet their work, who seek to profit from it, but don't believe the artist should be paid for it. edition.cnn.com/2024/05/22/t...

It’s so funny how, of all the great prescient dystopian scifi films of the ‘70s, the one that hit closest to the mark is the tagline to ZARDOZ.
