I made this meme and got dared to post it on bluesky In 2020 party elites sacrificed individual ambitions to coordinate to stop a nomination they thought was bad for the party. This time they refuse—because they don’t care as much about preventing a Trump presidency. Sorry to break it to you.

@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social gets at this dynamic in a recent paper: “the median dollar in the U.S. campaign finance system comes from a 66-year-old … [and] analyses suggest that individuals are more likely to donate and donate more to candidates closer to their age.” www.dropbox.com/s/tui5dkbnnf...

I have a lotta Lamont Dozier in my #SongOfTheDay playlist but this one is probably my alltime fav
Finally had a chill weekend, so I made a playlist of most of the singles written or co-written by Lamont Dozier, in order. From embryonic Motown stuff to Vanilla Fudge to disco to Phil Collins to the incredibly Not Bad theme song to "Leonard Part 6." open.spotify.com/playlist/4Pe...

As @jakemgrumbach.bsky.social keeps saying, it is not great that one of the most powerful institutions in the U.S. refuses to abide democratic control.
To give you an idea of how this issue has evolved: Back in 2011, under Bloomberg’s administration, sixteen cops were *arrested and charged* for the very similar practice of ticket fixing, prompting NYPD officers to protest in the streets. www.nytimes.com/2011/10/28/n...

Lmao we need these for all long movies. We’re forced to pick some random spot 2/3 into Interstellar???
My advice: run to the restroom when she lands in Houston and visits her old home. My opinion: the film should’ve had an intermission, the concert did!

It's been a surreal experience watching people cynically exploit one of your identities in a misguided and counterproductive attempt to protect the other identity. Solidarity to Drake, Lenny Kravitz, Lisa Bonet, Rashida Jones, Maya Rudolph, and the rest of us in these strange times!

Somewhat impressed with the Free Speech Warriors like arguing that the university presidents were articulating good standards, but that they should apply those standards consistently. Wholly unimpressed by the "Free Speech Warriors" arguing for safetyism and a privileged position for an ideology.

love too wake up to nonjewish legislators passing a resolution calling us a bunch of self-hating jews
a new House resolution 894 has a clause that "clearly and firmly states that anti-Zionism is antisemitism." It's hard to overstate how extremely antisemitic it is. Imagine any other identity, saying "if you don't support [random country I racistly associate with your identity], you are racist."

Excited to see this online! We use data from a mock jury experiment to show that many people who deliberate with POCs change their minds to be closer to POCs' preferences, but this change rarely translates to *verdicts* closer to POCs' preferences. www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/10.1086/...
