OK. Who puts packages right in front of the garage door? (This coming from the fellow who didn't see a small one and ran over it, ruining his wife's spice order.)

Thinking about my "golden age" when it comes to video games, and nothing will ever make me feel as the playing TIE Fighter or Baldur's Gate II for the first time did. What an era for PC gaming.

As always, the golden age is when you were 12.

Oddly, the "Golden Age" for me was the mid-1990s/late 1990s. The fear of nuclear war had receded. I was a young adult. I was experiencing dating and being with friends. Games were rocking! Loved my (low-paying) sports editor gig. Beloved grandmas still alive.

If they all collectively just shut the fuck up and worked towards an important goal they are afraid of failing to achieve, they might surprise themselves, but this pissing the pants and wanting to give up because the fight looks tough and you overvalue bad opinions does not work. They're cowards.

As a journalist since 1998, I've always treated this as I must earn your trust. My outlet's reputation -- or my own once I built it -- is not enough. Gotta earn that trust every day.

I’m at the point where I trust specific journalists, but the rest of you need to earn trust. It’s not given automatically.

As someone who worked with folks who wrote and created front pages -- and did it myself for some time! -- what the hell were these people smoking/watching last night?
