Sundar Pichai has absolutely incredible stategic vision, which is to jump on whatever the latest hype bubble is and ruin your products in the process.

mmm don't like this. Reading that made me feel like I got splashed with polluted water

This also needs to happen whenever you Google a legislator that opposes regulation. Otherwise no one who has the power to do anything will care.

FWIW, I just tried a search for “Taylor Swift swimsuit” and almost all of the image hits was from a “known” outlet (People Magazine, Sports Illustrated, etc.) There was a single Hugging Face hit that was absolutely AI, but almost all the rest were from a small handful of “reputable” sites.

So, seems Google may have done some quick cleanup in response to this article. I admit I didn’t test further than the one search. I realized I don’t follow celebrities AT ALL and couldn’t think of many other names to test. :/
Avatar
It also could be your search results are more wholesome than most.

IIRC, google does build a profile based on your searching that changes what it presents to you. Back when I used to use it, results for ambiguous terms would err on the side of technology and software. Really annoying when I had to use another computer that hadn't been "trained up" yet.

You’re correct. Whenever testing, I use Private Browsing mode. (I’m on iOS, which has its share of drawbacks but definitely does have the advantage that Private Browsing deprives Google of basically all analytics and personal data—so it’s about as close to “pure” as one can get.)

Google only just admitted that they do track users in incognito mode, and only added a warning after a class action settlement. I know iOS supposedly has some stronger privacy control, but I don't know if that would necessarily extend to how Google tracks you in Chrome www.wired.com/story/chrome...
Google Updates Chrome's Incognito Warning to Admit It Tracks Users in ‘Private’ Modewww.wired.com The warning was added to Chrome Canary as Google settles a class-action suit.

I have to do a lot of research for work, based on trends and random art and craft movements. Also I am always looking for 'who is that guy' while watching shows. The algorithm has give up on me.
Avatar
Or publication bias. If it isn't a scandal, what do you write about?
Avatar
The issue will probably be for celebrities below the taytay level.
Avatar
You’re probably right. Unfortunately my celeb knowledge below that level is near-zero. Which in this case seems like it may be a positive thing lol. The article did say that they’d seen a bunch of AI images even at the TS level, so it at least looks like they may have gotten those cleaned up.

"Make celebrities look like children????" What the ever loving fuck????? 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬

I can think of a few dozen lawyers who are opening their fancy cigar boxes today.

Wonder how fast that would be fixed if there was a mass organized effort to create AI porn with the executives and board of google.

Seriously, guys. Before it's too late.
