I have a friend with dual US/Irish passports. She’s thinking of selling her house before the election.

My last Irish ancestor arrived in North America in 1805ish. And the US rules on dual citizenship meant that my mom (born in France to US-citizen parents) didn't get to keep her French citizenship after she turned 21, so we didn't inherit that.

I'm going to add a semi-personal note to this. As a high school teacher (including US history & civics) this is such an insult to what I and the thousands upon thousands of my colleagues do every day. If you support the Democratic Party and its policies in part or whole, Vote! The timing of this psychology between Gaza and the Debate is impactful. But all dems, Vote! It’s a mere minutes of one’s time to get what you want.

Someone elsewhere here on bluesky said he actually DID vote and it was easy to find in voter information databases. I wouldn't be shocked. It would seem to align - discouraging voting aligning with those who would suppress voters. Voting may not be sufficient, but it is necessary. Common sense.
