Jailing people for being homeless is a classic American policy: stupid, brutal, and very expensive.

The underrepresented counterfactual: the right-wing would have claimed Biden was too old *regardless of the debate performance.* There is no universe in which the right would have been convinced, because their whole schtick is about being unconvinced by reality-based events.

There’s a debate strategy often used by pseudoscience peddlers known as the Gish Gallop. The debater throws out a barrage of false claims, one after another, far too many for the opponent to ever actually refute them all. The opponent stalls as he tries to figure out what to respond to first.

That's the problem with narcissists -- who btw make up about 7% of the population -- they sound confident, and believing someone who sounds confident is easy, no cognitive effort. Many people, especially on the right (which values a lack of education), gravitate towards "no cognitive effort."

When I saw Biden at a fundraiser early this month, he sounded tired and a bit feeble, particularly contrasted with Obama talking right next to him. But the choice between enfeebled and a narcissistic sociopath surrounded by younger narcissistic sociopaths is not even a little difficult.

Yes, this is the essence. In America historically the glib flim-flam man is inexplicably believed over the honest truth teller -- who seems to evince some ambiguity that understands the fundamental ambiguity of reality (unlike fascism which means pretends everything is black and white).
