If they talked about this on television news instead of showing police beating protestors, do you think people might feel differently about the issue?
“Part of the problem is that items critical for hospitals are banned by Israel which says they can be used by Hamas for military purposes. The list of items it considers dual-use include some water disinfection materials.”
Volunteer U.S. docs in Rafah hospital say they've never seen a worse health crisiswww.npr.org Because of the Israeli operation, they lack the most basic supplies and must face the decision whether to let one patient die to save another. They also say malnutrition is contributing to deaths.

Here’s how the UK’s Channel Four covered the war today. You learn about 21 Gazans in a single family who were all killed overnight. You have an interview with a doctor about a lack of supplies and evacuating from supposedly “safe” areas. Real coverage.
Israel Hamas: US ‘red lines’ unclear as IDF keeps focus on Rafahyoutu.be Israel's new orders for more residents of Rafah to leave are being viewed with concern, not only by Palestinians being asked to uproot yet again, but also by...

U.S. TV news has been embarrassing for the entirety of the war but this is a good point. It’s gotten so much worse during the protests. Imagine if American TV showed real footage from Gaza, actually giving context to the reason college kids are protesting right now.

Trump is pushing Biden right. "Both Biden and Trump now support aggressive tariffs on Chinese goods. And both are threatening to dramatically curtail access to asylum at the southwest border. Those are positions that were vigorously pushed only by the fringes of the Republican Party a decade ago."
How Biden is trying to trump Trump on 3 key issueswww.axios.com Biden's plans show the hawkish direction Trump has moved the politics of China and immigration.

Cops stood by during the worst of the violence. "By 3:10 a.m., police had separated the majority of attackers from the pro-Palestinian protesters. But law enforcement did not arrest or appear to question the attackers, instead granting them an exit route away from the camp, according to video."

The argument for militarized intervention on campus was about student safety. Much of the violence was police assaulting protestors. When a violent mob formed to assault students, the police were slow to respond. And those writing op-eds about student safety don't seem all that interested.

This is really an extraordinary piece of reporting everyone should read. Chancellor of UCLA reassured concerned faculty that counterprotestors would not pick a fight and that private security would protect protestors. Security contractors walked away when mob formed. Gift link wapo.st/3UFgVta
Despite warnings of violence at UCLA, police didn’t step in for over 3 hourswapo.st Faculty had raised alarms in the days before the attack on pro-Palestinian protesters. That night, one witness called emergency services 11 times before police intervened.

I don’t wanna hand it to nintendo too much but it’s very telling that they were the one of the big three to realize that the mindless pursuit of greater and greater graphical fidelity and photorealism was a financial black hole waiting to happen, and they’ve been proven right

Once you accept that NYT is a cult everything about the institution - including how some reporters seem to undergo whole mind replacements after joining - makes sense.

Here's a nasty story. Meta had internal researchers tell them directly that taking like counts off of instagram would make users happier. Called it Project Daisy. However because it'd hurt growth, Meta chose not to do it, and Adam Mosseri lied to the media that it didn't help that much.

An incredible display of persecution complex here. The brazen disregard for decades of civil rights jurisprudence is what makes you a truly special bigot, Sam, not just the fact that you’re a psychotic far right Catholic.
