Arkansas AG Tim Griffin has sent cease-and-desist letters to two out-of-state abortion-medication providers, claiming it is illegal to ship abortion pills to Arkansas (and specifically to advertise this service to Arkansans on the orgs' websites.) arkansasag.gov/news_release...

I would get in so much trouble, but I would 10,000% send a copy back with a letter saying "Attached is a letter we received on May 23, 2024. I feel that you should be aware that some asshole is signing your name to stupid letters." 🤣

A red state AG sending a cease and desist is about the weakest move I've seen any of them do.

Red state AG's are by far most MAGA weirdo's ever.

“Federalist Society” hacks, who ran robocalls for the Jan. 6th insurrection. Repulsive.

Usually it defending traitors or commiting it Gotta collect every evil stamp

Well, then he can suck my interstate commerce clause.
Avatar
this just in: the fifth circuit court has ruled the interstate commerce clause doesn't apply, citing the ironclad defense of "because reasons"

SCOTUS shrugging and putting a stamp on it “for the bit”

Arkansas is in the 8th Circuit.
Avatar
I know, but the 5th is the one making dubious rulings on federal laws all the time, so the joke only really worked with them

They’d find a way. Or have sham plaintiffs, like the gay cake web developer or whatever her aspirational job was.

The one in the Netherlands should send a response in Dutch, no one in Arkansas will be able to read it

But I agree it would be funny if they did that

One of the orgs being threatened above, for this very reason!

I went to the Aid Access website to see what they do...
Well we’re about to see how shield laws hold up. Arkansas is threatening to sue telehealth abortion provider Aid Access, which has doctors in states that purport to protect them from extradition write prescriptions and mail to people in ban states. (Via Caroline Kitchener on Twitter)

Hey, is it the Arkansas State Postal Service? No? So STFU Tim Griffin and don't try to interfere with the US Mail.

I live in Indiana but have relatives by marriage in AR. How could I help financially?

The Arkansas Abortion Support Network helps Arkansans who need abortion funding or transportation out of state to get an abortion, as well as doing community outreach and education. They accept donations at the link below. Thanks for your thoughtfulness!

Thank you for your excellent coverage.

This letter is as valuable as my cease and desist letter I sent to Universal to stop them from distributing Argylle because it made my eyes bleed. That said, we should resurrect Anonymous to out all of these hypocrites who guaranteed have forced the women in their lives to get abortions

It’s been a long time since I’ve lived in Arkansas and I no longer remember who Tim Griffin used to be, but I haven’t heard that name in a long while and all I remember is that it’s somebody I’m supposed to hate

Can we get some guerilla drone formations to spell out Mifepristone in the night sky over Little Rock?

This should provoke entertaining responses. 😁

Seems like an interstate commerce issue. Not a states rights issue.
Avatar
Amsterdam? All the providers in the US and these guys are trying to go after one in the Netherlands?
Avatar
It's a big one, but agreed: extremely implausible
Tim, bitch please, the next time you act as a consumer advocate for the bulk of the people of this state will be the first.

I miss the days when the GOP was pro-life in a way that meant, here’s a decoy rabbit at the track that the dogs chase round and round while the GOP would do absolutely nothing actually pro-life legislatively or otherwise.
