Unfortunately, this is not just the abstract manifesto of a feverish mind. It comes with concrete plans and a detailed strategy of how to take over and transform government into an autocratic revenge machine that can impose a reactionary vision against the will of the majority. /end
“Project 2025” Promises Revenge, Oppression, and Autocratic Rulethomaszimmer.substack.com The Right’s plans for a return to power are driven by a radicalizing siege mentality and a desperate desire to restore dominance

This is true and Harlan Crow and Charles Koch are smart enough to know they don’t really need more justices on SCOTUS. They have what they need. What they now aim for is a full authoritarian coup. That’s why billionaires put $100M into Project 2025. We are already in the crisis.
“The same megadonors who have created this blueprint are the same people who have been purchasing lavish gifts for Alito and Thomas, seeking to influence the court. And they want more justices like them seated.”

Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise

Oh and the "historical context of our country" is that the Founding Fathers knew from hard personal experience that the mixing of religion and government had caused centuries of war and chaos across Europe, so when they set up a new country here THEY VERY EXPLICITLY DID NOT DO THAT.

Want to know tell your friends what Project 2025 says about abortion? Project 2025 says abortion is already banned in all 50 states and all they need is a President Trump to let everyone know.

Remember how Trump floated the idea that Covid would go away if we just stopped testing for it? People treated that like it was Trump being dumb, but it was actually him articulating his quite savvy, authoritarian way of handling information. Want climate change to go away? Just stop measuring it!

This should be posted by everyone, on every platform, every day until the election.
Importing this @volts.wtf thread from the bad place. It opens with a link to a piece that used official data to establish that yes, crime rates are indeed very much down recently. But here’s the thing, Project 2025’s Trump 2.0 promises to destroy that world in which we can “know” things like this.

At the cutting edge of climate research, individual extreme event attribution now takes only days to quantify the human fingerprint. The latest analysis shows that the crippling early season heatwave enveloping the lower US and Mexico is 35 times more likely due to human-caused climate change.

Okay, at what point do we call BS on this endless stream of snake oil? I propose new legislation called the “Put Up or Shut Up Act” that requires megacorps to sell us what the have NOW, not some fanciful notion of what they think they’ll do someday

Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act & Bipartisan Infrastructure Law make the largest investment in climate resilience in history, and has billions of dollars for habitat restoration. It will help a lot of vulnerable folks be resilient to climate impacts. In the next climate bills, let’s include more.
@costasamaras.bsky.social All the future IRAs should include nature restoration. It’s hugely popular among the local and regional communities. Less contentious as changing the power system or transport, both being key to decarbonization but people should have nice things while at it

Am sure this will get all sorts of dunks for seeming inconsistency, but important to stress what this makes clear. “Back the Blue” backers aren’t (have never) backed police per se. They back authoritarian social control, and see police as way to do that. Police who don’t back that aren’t covered.

An essential read from the former research manager of Stanford’s Internet Observatory, on how spreaders of misinformation (people who have been deceived) and disinformation (people who know they’re lying) view even *labelling* a post as misinformation as censorship. More … 🧵

The right-wing trolls refuse to listen but they demand to be heard. Hard pass. Block them early and often.
Trolling + misinformation requires an audience: so when rather than responding, I simply block, they also perceive that as censorship. This latest accusation, for example, claims that, as a university professor, I am a public official and hence shouldn’t be allowed to block anyone on social media.

How about we just ask them what they think about “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” and how they feel about those today who would work to limit these for select groups of people.
