Listen, if the Biden campaign wanted to quell concerns about his age, they would have put him out there, like in the post-debate pressroom, a rally, an event at the Stonewall monument, a national address, a medal of honor ceremony, a meeting with governors, another rally, and televised interview.
Biden has a bad debate night: calls to step down
Documents released that show two underage women accused Trump of raping them on Epstein’s island, under oath: total media silence except in a few blogs and foreign news
The media double standard is incredible to see
They don't want Biden in, as a person who used to specialize in research on this they want to prep a narrative for the fall of a technically illegitimate election. It's not a move to stop it, it's a move to delegitimize.
OK so while we argue on this site about who should replace Biden Twitter is burning up with WHY DOESNT THE MEDIA COVER TRUMP SEXUALLY ASSAULTING CHILDREN WITH EPSTEIN we really need to stop the discourse on here being so completely led by a handful of white elite dipshits in ac offices
Not to be corny but I do think the ongoing aspiration to make America a pluralist democracy of equals is righteous, beautiful, and worth honoring, even if it has more often been the struggle of minorities & dissenters than the policy of the government. 🇺🇸
Notice how everyone is somehow talking about Biden Too Old right now, and NOT about how the Supreme Court just legalized Trump being a dictator for life and gutted the administrative state, and how the Heritage Foundation is now issuing terrorist threats?
Think that might not be an accident?
That part isn't the disinfo part. It's the chaos and rumormongering that is going to be used to get Mike fucking Johnson etc. into power once they push Kamala Harris out of the line of succession. It's also being used to distract everyone from mounting a coordinated response to the Supreme Court
Every day proves Thaddeus Stevens right: there should've been big Nuremberg-style public trials of leading Confederates, accompanied by seizures of the assets of all pro-Confederate large landowners and businessmen, which should then have been distributed to freed slaves as compensation.
One way to understand AG Sulzberger’s obsession over Biden’s age is this is his last chance to prove that NYT has the juice to make some kind of dent with its reporting. Otherwise he’s the inheritor of a low-status crosswords-and-cooking empire, like some common Newhouse
I’ve had over a decade to miserably marinate on an anti-democratic process in which, to my great sorrow, all my gloomiest, wildest predictions keep coming true.
Despite that, I still don’t think we’re doomed or that we should give up and walk into the sea en masse.
on the record, I’ve been losing my mind with anxiety and fear over the fall of American democracy since 2013, when I noticed how similar U.S. politics was starting to sound to the kleptocracy I reported on in Cambodia.
This is terrifying, but at least we know exactly the enemy’s intention are.
the times continues its vigorous campaign to end democracy. literally the same playbook they ran in 2016 with the emails.
we're so fucked. i'm existentially depressed.
One thing I think people forget is how relentlessly *stupid* every day of the Trump administration was. He doesn’t need to do a big elaborate complicated conspiracy, he can just (e.g.) email a list of every U.S. agent in the field to Putin and say it’s to own the libs, and *that* will have immunity.
Vote.
Also knock on doors, volunteer for campaingns.
Get involved locally. Go to meetings, work with others, make your own community safer, better, more organized. Know what's on school board agendas. Show up and comment.
Give politicians a reason to know what you want, and why they should care.
every time I see someone complain about unions I think about how unions were the consensus alternative to the previous system of burning the factory owner alive inside his house
Not making any threats here, just thinking out loud as a historian — do they people brazenly pushing for impunity for the wealthy elites not know what traditionally comes next?

the combination of Ohio, Chevron, and Jarkesy is to tell the extraordinarily rich “there’s no one who can hold you accountable for anything if you can afford a lawsuit”
Just saw a Great Britain float at the parade worth the slogan “Great Britain is for everyone” and I love everyone in the float but uh someone should tell their government that too
YES THAT WORKED SO WELL AND DID NOT AT ALL THROW THE PARTY INTO A DIVISIVE NOMINATION CONTEST AND LOST ELECTION THAT WOULD HAUNT IT FOR THE NEXT HALF CENTURY
