NEW: Trump, joined by codefendants, asks Judge Cannon for a partial stay of the classified docs case while Cannon considers the effects of the SCOTUS immunity decision and the appointments and appropriations clause arguments storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

“Exigency supporting a partial stay is demonstrated by President Biden’s July 1, 2024 public comment—from inside the White House—linking Jack Smith’s abuse of the criminal justice process to Biden’s desperate and failing attempts to communicate with voters prior to the 2024 presidential election.”

NEW: Judge Cannon pauses some deadlines in the classified-docs case to allow for further briefing on effects of SCOTUS immunity ruling

As Kyle Cheney points out, Judge Cannon is giving the special counsel two weeks to weigh in on whether she should approve Trump’s request for additional briefing—and only THEN would the actual briefing happen

This case is never, ever, going to be resolved. Cannon is auditioning for SCOTUS and must protect trump at all costs

Okay, all those waning notions of “maybe this just inexperience” are now vanquished. She’s 100% in the tank.

What nonsense. That case is all about his actions after he left office, when he stole the top secret documents he was no longer allowed to have because he was NO LONGER PRESIDENT. (Sorry for yelling. Judge Cannon does that to me.)

I for one am shocked by this

You mean shocked in the way the gambling at Rick's shocked Inspector Renault, right?

I apologize for not getting your reference so I'll just say yes, exactly like that

Casablanca! Well worth the watch for its gorgeous black and white photography & snappy dialogue. From 1943. The Marseilles scene still makes me tear up because a lot of the actors singing were refugees from Europe.

Joe Biden was mean to me. Therefore, it's an emergency.

Woah, woah, woah, any comments Biden makes in relation to the 2024 presidential election are clearly official acts under that same SCOTUS ruling. As are any crimes that anyone might commit for which he has the power to issue a pardon.

Pretty sure I know how she's going to rule on this...

Canon when she finally issues a ruling in 2035: "Americans want presidents who look presidential even in retirement. Therefore, even though Trump was no longer in office when these acts occurred, they were still acts within the official duties of the president for immunity purposes."

Does the case become moot when he dies? There’s no way he lives another 11 years.
Avatar
Crud, I just guaranteed he’ll somehow live to 100 didn’t I

The fact that the obstruction took place after TFG left office should kill this move quickly. The fact that Cannon is the judge means it will most likely be granted.

Of course, they'll get the stay, but at the same time, they want to postpone the decision about the legitimacy of the Special Counsel's appointment - which Clarence Thomas left as an Easter Egg in their favour in his immunity concurrence?

It really bugs me that Trump’s body man/sniveling weasel Walt Nauta is getting rewarded for obstructing a national security investigation & flipping off DOJ🤬
