Studies show that bad news gets re-shared 100x more than good news, increasing our sense of despair. We’ve created the feed #ShareGoodNewsToo to increase how much we see the real victories that are also happening. Please use & share it! 💪❤️🌎Despair is the biggest enemy of action! Hope is resistance!

we fixed acid rain! we fixed the ozone layer! we beat polio! we’ve rescued scores of species from the brink of extinction! the despair many of us feel about climate change isn’t that it’s too big to fix. it’s that we know it is fixable but we’re being thwarted by greedy ghouls at every turn.
The other day I was like “you know something we heard a lot about as kids was acid rain, why don’t we hear about it anymore” TURNS OUT we fixed it???

Will go to my grave arguing that this is one of the greatest panels in comic book history, right alongside panels from Will Eisner's Spirit, Frank Miller's Daredevil, the Justice League one-punch, Don Perlin's weeping Hulk (from Defenders) and Steve Dillon's "Herr Starr tries on hats" page.
Happy Circulatory System Wandering Through the Kitchen Day to all who celebrate!

Hello @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com. At your talk in Boston last night you mentioned an author that the "New Yorker Magazine" had said would never be forgotten. I had not heard of him and I tried but failed to keep the name in my head. Can you remind me? Hope your knee is feeling better.

Barney decided that today, for some reason, would be the last for the hedgehog toy he has carried around so carefully for the past three years. Ahh, the mysteries of the canine mind!

The sense of motion here would probably work better if it was going the other way, but still, it really communicates urgency in a dynamic way. Script and art by Frank Robbins, 1954

Here’s some photos of the Moore essay. It goes on significantly afterwards, and is a expressly aimed at established creators of who already are at least competent. It’s Alan in call to arms encouragement mode.
This is interesting, and good for you as a creator. Alan Moore said something similar in his essays on writing comics Avatar put out in the 00s, in the final essay written 25 years after the others - the second you recognise something as being part of your style, bin it.

Rereading some old Legion of Superheroes comics. What does it mean that in a universe with Sun-Eaters and a planet where everyone is as powerful as Superman, it was an industrialist giving up all of his billions to ease Earth’s suffering that made me think “Well that’s just not realistic…”

Rereading some old game supplements and was struck by the begrudging, almost hostile tone of the introduction to Zebulon’s Guide to Frontier Space (for the Star Frontiers game system). Never seen anything quite like it… #ttrpg #rpg

I post this image every year on August 28th, in celebration of Jack Kirby's birthday. (Often with this link to a quick essay by Salahdin Ahmed, one of the best creators and critics of comics as a medium in my generation.) www.tor.com/2011/10/12/f...

Look forward to a sequel to The Last Voyage of the Demeter that focuses solely on Dracula's intense negotiations through real estate proxies for a mansion in London.

This rather sucks: apparently the company behind Libby/Overdrive (which is the dominant way to access ebooks etc. through your local library) is now in the hands of the vulture capitalists who took down Toys R’Us. And signs of enshittification are already showing.

On the one hand this is hilarious. On the other hand this is infuriating because how many fucking times do we have to tell you that internet traffic doesn't differentiate between support clicks and hate clicks and liberals have fucking created these assholes entire careers falling for rage bait.

It's reminder time again. We have no idea who our Kindle subscribers are, but there are a lot of them. Losing those subscribers is going to be brutal, so we'll keep bringing this up. We have no choice.

Thesis statement: Not everything old is wrong.   I’ve been ruminating on the atomization of social media and its effects on small creators. Creators must struggle constantly to get their work noticed and have come to depend on social media to draw attention to it. 1/28

BackerKit has very nice behind-the-curtain data if you choose to utilize the tools, and yeah, it's confirming that Twitter has absolutely cratered on successful backer referrals. As suspected. Used to be our top referral site when we crowdfunded; not even making it onto the podium, now.

If you notice an art mistake in a published comic book or graphic novel, no you didn’t. Comics are a ton of work, and the artist did the best they could with what little time/$$ they were given to make it 🤗

It's one thing catching it there, but knowing you have symptoms and deciding your desire to go to a con overrides the health of the people around you? Wildly, wildly selfish.
