I got distracted by a book and completely forgot I posted this and was alarmed by my notifications when I came back a couple hours later

Oops! Apparently we all really needed some bugs on plants

It's a good problem to have so I can't complain

There are a bunch on the Invertebrates feed too. It's broken containment!

Oh wow! Bugs are taking over!

Bugs! They're like cats, only with slightly more legs and mouth-arms.

Three Kingdoms, no waiting...

These bugs, as beautiful as they are, aren't my friends. I tolerate them in small numbers, but when there are too many (especially larvae) then I show no merci.

I believe they’re invasive lily beetles. They will decimate and potentially kill your lilies and some other related plants if you don’t squash them on sight, based on my experience.

Aaaaahhh, I have so many, let me find one. (I love a pollinator.)

I found 15 monarch cats on some South African milkweed this afternoon! Neighbors house… Also found jumping spider nomnoming monarch cat; also found milkweed bugs

There are so many nature lovers here! It makes me happy

🌱Out to do garden cleanup today & caught what may be a smaller Syrphid Fly aka Hoverfly (family #Syrphidae), or a Halactid Bee (family #Halactidae). Going by antennae may lean towards the former, but keying online difficult as many mimics & lookalikes. Any experts to weigh in? And TY🙏 #Invertebrate
