The thing that these pundits, reporters and centrists will NOT do is to monitor the GOP convention for any references to violence. It will not be scrutinized that way. The DEM convention will be picked over like a fine tooth comb for any references to fascism.

CONMEBOL is a shitshow, as we saw with Colombia-Uruguay the other night. But, also, nobody in *Miami* (iMIAMI!) had considered the implications of a match in which Colombia (who rarely gets this far in tournaments) and Messi + Argentina are playing might need Super Bowl-tier logistics? Disaster.

Now Univision is literally showing the tickets on people's phones, people who paid (so said one, $1k, another $4k) and weren't allowed in, and in the middle of this convo the event staff came and sent the Univision cameras packing. People with tickets outside say those inside don't all have tickets

If you need a break from politics, there’s soccer DRAMA. This after Uruguay players previously jumped into the stands after a loss to defend family members being harassed by Colombia fans.
Right now in Miami: Univision is showing security agents turning their journalists away from interviewing people who were denied entry after a security failure. Also showing police stomping out people who made it past the barricades. The final was scheduled to start 40 minutes ago.

Somebody pls write a media analysis of Fox vs Univision coverage of this game.
I have Fox on for one of the first times in this tournament. And they are showing none of this. From their perspective it just seems to be a mystery what has been happening…

FIFA has to be looking at this Copa security mess and rethinking how prepared the US will be for the World Cup in 2026, right? Because if we can’t get our shit together for Copa which is just CONMEBOL and Concacaf, how the fuck are we to be ready for World Cup

If Trump wins, to address the “it won’t be that bad” crowd, ok… for the sake of argument (really really myopic bad argument) let’s say he fails to implement almost all the most pathetic sickest shit in the trump/gop policy agenda. You know what he is gonna pull off? Shutting down federal criminal…

The meekest immigrant doing the most humbling manual labor is just trying to improve his life and support his family. It’s the same reason Vance degrades himself before a man he knows is a fraud, and who seems to enjoy humiliating him. The difference is that there’s honor in manual labor.
I oppose this worldview—this theory of America—with every fiber of my being.

The number of people Trump says he'll deport keeps going up. It's now 20 million, 50% higher than the largest estimates of the undocumented population. It's clear sign that distinguishing legal from illegal won't be a priority. They're just going to round up people they don't want to be here.
