I’m invested in the conspiracy theory that Batman wears half a mask so Gotham PD knows he’s a white dude.

It's not a coincidence that when DC recently introduced another Batman who was a black guy that that dude's mask was full-face and yes, he came right out and said it was "because I don't want the cops to shoot me"

It has to do with Future State: Justice League Batman. Who is "Jace" Fox—the clearly not white son of Lucius Fox. I don't know if I've seen the exact context, but in I Am Batman #2 he takes off his mask to be like:

I'm looking for the panel - I can't recall if it was in one of the FEAR STATE stories that the character spun out of, or the I AM BATMAN book he got, so there's a buncha skimming to do first collection of the aforementioned I AM BATMAN, though: www.amazon.com/I-Am-Batman-...

man, this is harder'n I thought; maybe I was misremembering him coming out and saying it, 'cause I'm not finding the page (it could have been in one of the bajillion side appearances and crossover events they were using to get eyes on the character, to be fair) I'm still working on it but it's slow

The one million arc where Batman from future and Pluto you might be thinking of

I would so watch a Tim Fox Batman movie.

absolutely the case for sure

Joker's invulnerability and immunity to police reprisal is because he's even whiter. I'm thinking this theory has legs, Link.

Will Reeves knew what was up.

I need to rewatch that show.

I'll go a step further. They know it's Bruce Wayne, and that's why they don't arrest the violent vigilante with billion dollar tech.

One night at one of those galas Bruce had too much champagne and was feeling real big. He goes up to one of the security guys and says "I'm Bahhtman....Bahht. man. Bahman" he stumbles away, valiantly trying to make the hard "t" sound.

This explains neatly why Cassandra Cain gets a full face mask. GCPD can't break out anti-asian slurs that way.
Avatar
Though I should highlight that's the OG Batgirl getup, the later Black Bat costume has something more like the domino mask the varied Robins get.
Avatar
Also why Signal (Duke Thomas) has not only the full face mask, but his meta power includes being invisible.

I sent this to my son and he added some information that supports the theory for sure

This post during black history month?! 😭 I'm immediately subscribing to this theory and entirely rearranging my worldview though. It makes too much sense and I'm fully on board.

Admittedly not something I’ve considered before, but once stated this is pretty obviously true

I don’t think the villains would get away with half their shit if that weren’t the case either

The funny thing is, 20 years ago, I’d think this was a whackadoodle opinion. Especially since 2015 and trump antics, all I can do is slowly nod. It’s breathtaking the creative ways the powers that be avoid holding that man accountable with serious consequences for his criminality.
Avatar
Honestly this explains so many shitty superhero barely masks

Gotham PD know Batman is a mentally ill billionaire who beats up poor people....and they let him get away with it because he's also a major donor to their police union/ "benevolent fund"
Avatar
Luke Fox, the son of billionaire Lucius Fox, knows what’s up.
Avatar
It's also a strong argument for why Jace Fox wears (wore?) a full-face mask.

Mfers already an Asian wife away from shitty libertarian hero.

Elite 1% white guy fights crime on all streets except Wall Street. Seems legit.

I have always suspected this. Fact not tinfoil hat

That's not a conspiracy theory, that's an actual fact.

Best comics I ever read, I think they have online versions, you should definitely try to read some en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Fo...

They're making fun of capitalism and greed, and this was long time ago when we weren't aware of impact on humanity

It’s the same for Black Nior in The Boys TV show. The Boys comic is different because [SPOILER] but it’s arguable if that’s more unhinged than institutional racism

Makes sense. Because any story in which he were a black man would be abbreviated.

That's not a conspiracy theory, that's straight goods!

he’s still included in acab

Mine is that everyone in Gotham knows he's Bruce, but he sends Pinkertons to anyone who tries to out him.
Avatar
Everyone knows Batman is Bruce Wayne. He's the only one who can afford all those toys. Now, the real question is, where the fuck does Clark Kent disappear off to whenever Superman is around? The man always seems to have some spot where he can see all the action but nobody can see him.

Thinking of a superhero on the Watchmen who was black and painted the bottom of his face white.
