I had someone explain that smoking a cigarette was a 7 minute break from reality. Only responsibility at that time was to make sure nobody & nothing got set on fire.

My dad did this in college. Jews and Sicilians. In a double wide trailer. At the number one party school in the US the time. I wish footage existed. I get anecdotes sometimes and they’re so funny & dirty in a way that’s eternally comforting to me.

It’s actually sociologically and linguistically interesting and I wonder if the accent really is an evolution of what happens when you get a shit ton of (let’s be real Sicilian) Italians and a shit ton of Jews and shove them together in a densely populated space and make them talk to each other.
