I think it hopefully shows the lack of confidence they have in this area of attack. For now

You're not free if the cops can shoot you with impunity on a regular basis. I'm sorry but people really must come to terms with this.

I looked through it and there’s surprisingly little explicit about libraries or book bans

remember: if it adds money to the police budget, it is not a reform
You don't need to watch this video but you need to know what happened to this Black woman. And then you really need to do some soul searching when asshole Democrats propose "training" and give even more money to these murderers. Will you be silent and complicit? www.wbez.org/criminal-jus...
Video shows sheriff’s deputy shoot and kill an unarmed woman in Springfield, Ill.www.wbez.org Sonya Massey called 911 to report a potential prowler before being shot inside her home. Footage shows she was cowering in fear and holding a pot when the deputy opened fire.

You want a sincere answer from me? Look at the UK. The thing giving the ascendent Labour Party pause is the number of 3rd party notes. That doesn’t matter in the US system but I think a significant third party result would be the only thing the Dems would take notice of to not lurch further right

Telling a queer man in Texas whose vote won't count, who can't bring his love to live with him because of discrimination in healthcare for trans people, as a setup to an I'll-have-told-you-so scenario is so fucking stupid I really don't know what you expect to achieve here except smug satisfaction
Avatar
That I have to not only vote for a fucking cop, I have to like it as well? I'm perfectly capable of making my own risk assessments. So get the fuck out of my replies and go work on your soul or something.

What’s the point of you telling me this? To gain the vote of one syndicalist?

I think something more libidinal is going on here.

The US will continue to use its military to support the genocide in Gaza, to suppress internal dissent via transfer of military weapons to police, to kill people at the border, and use its military threat to drive nations into economic subservience. There’s no ballot i can cast against those things
Avatar
Vote strategically, don’t vote, i don’t care. It’s one action. But actually liking and praising these politicians? Abhorrent behavior

The Very Smart People are noticing that leftists don't like Harris either. I don't know what to tell them except I didn't just fall out of a coconut tree. The US empire is evil to its core and she's the next in line to continue that empire. I'm going to have some *critiques* if you don't mind.

this is an extremely valid reason to never host your conference in a state that can opt out of life-saving medical procedures for people who are pregnant. All professional societies should take note. 👇
Good comic on traveling while pregnant in a Dobbs nation. The Supreme Court has seen to it that states can opt-out of life saving medical care and many have, restricting travel and autonomy for anyone possibly pregnant while also imperiling their lives. www.vox.com/life/356448/...
I’m pregnant. I’m traveling. I’m terrified.www.vox.com My family reunion is in South Carolina. Essential care for my high-risk pregnancy is not.
