I have not mentioned this over here yet, but I did get early tenure with a fully OA dossier that included a link to library dot gay for @librarypunk.bsky.social. Thanks to everyone who supported my case and the last few years of work!

this is an extremely valid reason to never host your conference in a state that can opt out of life-saving medical procedures for people who are pregnant. All professional societies should take note. 👇
Good comic on traveling while pregnant in a Dobbs nation. The Supreme Court has seen to it that states can opt-out of life saving medical care and many have, restricting travel and autonomy for anyone possibly pregnant while also imperiling their lives. www.vox.com/life/356448/...

131 - Close-Up (1990) Movie night again! We’re talking about the film Close-Up about a strange case of fraud in Iran surrounding a film director, made by a film director who was part of the events because he wanted to make a movie about it. The layers! www.librarypunk.gay/e/131-close-...

It’s like Harris, if you are a major scholar of leftism you have to agree to not have children cause they will rebel against you in the stupidest ways
Every once in while, his dad being one of the US’s foremost Gramscian scholars (co-translated Gramsci’s Prison notebooks and was literally a founder and President of the International Gramsci Society) comes to mind, and I just wonder.

@librarypunk.bsky.social I just listened to the episode on Queer Info Seeking Behavior (really enjoyed it!) and wanted to share a recommendation for Preciado's Countersexual Manifesto. It gets into Haraway (and Butler) territory, in a really fun way

@chucktingle.bsky.social Very strange happenings similar to what you were talking about with the Google Docs article yesterday.
I loathe Google shutting down Google Podcasts and moving everything to YouTube Music. It is an incredibly confusing process for podcast creators and then shit like this happens. You removed a podcast episode because it links to Chuck Tingle's Wikipedia page? WTF? 📚

But his editor scrapped it, telling him the paper could not afford to defend Chinamen or outrage the SFPD. Twain quit & became a freelancer, a position which left him dead broke, houseless, & suicidal, but allowed him to write whatever he pleased. He chose mostly to criticize the SFPD. 3/

As someone who studies college football, I do have to say that universities have already proven that they are willing to literally sacrifice their students for economic imperatives. Calling the cops on protesters to protect precious investments is just a logical extension of Fall Saturdays.

This is how the state continues to deny the right to vote to people who’ve completed their sentence even though Floridians passed the re-enfranchisement amendment by ballot measure.
"Not only can the state bill an inmate the $50 a day even after they are released, Florida can also impose a new bill on the next occupant of that bed, potentially allowing the state to double, triple, or quadruple charge for the same bed." www.abcactionnews.com/news/local-n...
Pay to stay: Florida inmates charged for prison cells long after incarcerationwww.abcactionnews.com It's a common saying: You do the crime, you do the time. But when people are released from prison, freedom is fragmented. It marks the start of new hardships, impacting families and communities.

the Kent State massacre was metabolized as a tragedy in history books, but it was cheered by reactionaries at the time. the fantasy of delivering violence to naive young liberals is foundational to the modern right. they never learned the lesson of Kent State because they never stopped supporting it
