It's hard to rank the absurdities in Project 2025, but the plans for NOAA are pretty high up there: "the NWS should eliminate its public-facing forecasts...and otherwise 'fully commercialize its forecasting operations'...Then, NOAA’s scientific-research arm...should be aggressively shrunk."
They have such winning ideas like “why don’t we charge people who want to know if that tornado is gonna hit their house.”

FYI (from the CDC Covid-19 wastewater monitoring site, www.cdc.gov/nwss/rv/COVI...). It's a good time to take precautions if you don't want to catch covid (or risk giving it to someone else).

So people are talking about the fake version of the JD Vance sparkling water. Here’s the real one. And you know, as someone who had kind of a crash-course introduction to the world of the American elite, let me tell my very similar and extremely different story.
J. D. Vance: What I didn’t know how the world of the American elite workswww.foxnews.com I went to Yale to earn a law degree. But that first year at Yale taught me most of all that I didn’t know how the world of the American elite works.

Former DCist reporters just announced that they are launching a worker-run local news site for DC called the 51st, operating on reader donations:
A serious loss for local DC news. What's fucked up is that this is the SECOND time DCist has been shuttered, after Gothamist, the group of city-based sites which included it, was bought up & shut down by a billionaire mad that they reported on him. They stay brazenly dismantling journalism.
