I see we're having another round of 'screaming on the internet doesn't do anything' and 'instead of arguing on the internet people should do real activism.' 1. Many people are doing a mix of things and you may not see them all! 2. 'Yelling on the internet' absolutely has a material impact

the Palestinians Youth Movement rally/march at the Texas Capitol today went amazingly. I don't think theres been a count yet but I wouldn't be surprised if we had over 10k people. no fights or scuffs that I'm aware of. 10/10

NYC, I saw this great show the day it opened and I warmly recommend it. If you need a non-protest space to gather with people in solidarity be there 2-4 today.

I think a lot of people were expecting the road to genocide would be a sharp turn that they could boldly object to rather than simply a continuation of the policies and ideas they already sign off on.

On this day in 2010 I opened my Etsy Shop "Totes? Totes!" and began selling these ah, totes, that say "I Still Believe Anita Hill." They sold really well despite this terrible merchandise shot lol. They money went to anti-rape groups. Might start again in 2024?

As someone who studied censorship regimes academically - one of my big takeaways was that these regimes rely to a considerable degree on SELF-censorship even when they have explicit processes for censorship. Please be aware & adjust your behavior accordingly.

As well-meaning publishers try to navigate the coming storm of state laws against diversity, I hope they'll consider Timothy Snyder's Rule #1 (from his slim book ON TYRANNY).
