New issue of ROMchip is up, filled with good stuff! Especially excited for @mattknutson.bsky.social's "Accessible Sport and 'Wheelchair Romance'", which tells an important & powerful story of DIY game accessibility in the 1980s. www.romchip.org/index.php/ro...

People saying this is the last Fourth of July have no idea what they’re talking about. Come Jan. 21 of next year, it’s going to be Fourth of July EVERY DAY. It’ll just be kind of . . . mandatory.

This talk (and the panel) was super — I wish we'd had had much longer than we did for discussion! Many thanks to everyone who participated.

My mind is a little broken by the reality of llama.ttf, which @mkirschenbaum.bsky.social discussed in his position paper for our #SHARP2024 roundtable "AI in the Communications Circuit." As described at fuglede.github.io/llama.ttf/ "llama.ttf is a font file which is also a large language model" 🤯

llama.ttffuglede.github.io llama.ttf is a font file which is also a large language model and an inference engine for that model.

Serious question. What if prosecutors continued to try cases with due cause, judges and juries continued to rule according to their convictions, and the inevitable appeals, finding their way to the Supreme Court, would force the court to repeatedly and publicly uphold this absurd decision?

I think we’re at the emergency cats portion of the day. I’ll start:

In the event of warning of an incoming ICBM, the President will have 3-7 minutes to decide whether to launch in response, the fate of the planet in the balance. As this (terrifying and forensically unforgiving) book makes clear, the authority is his and his alone. Is EITHER candidate up to that?

Really kind of fascinating to watch some of the very same people who couldn’t type Genocide Joe fast enough now all “hands off muh Biden.”

Everything else said it’s hard to think the media isn’t getting _exactly_ the narrative they wanted.
