Even when "all the wealthy people will domicile in other states to avoid the tax!" proves empirically to be false by passing the tax and observing what happens afterwards, they still are like "what if it's true tho"
The recent news from Massachusetts revenue officials that they collected about $1.8 billion this year from the so-called "millionaires tax" sparked chatter: Is the windfall great financial news — or a precursor to an exodus of wealthy residents?
Other states eye Mass. millionaires tax — for windfall or wealth exoduswww.wbur.org States considering wealth tax proposals, like Pennsylvania and Vermont, are taking note of Massachusetts' revenue gains. But at home, the question of whether the voter-approved Fair Share Amendment is...

Great Washington Post nostalgia study. Adults think U.S. society was historically nicest and comfiest—most moral and close-knit, families happiest—whenever they happened to be little kids, and culture (music, movies, TV, fashion, sports, food) best whenever they were adolescents. wapo.st/3WXd9xS

So @nagelhout.bsky.social and i briefly tried to make a podcast about the sabres drought several years ago and even then research was nearly impossible because so much reporting at the time was done online and it was already gone
New report from Pew finds 38% of webpages that existed in 2013 are no longer accessible a decade later. This research underscores how critical web archiving efforts are. www.pewresearch.org/data-labs/20...
When Online Content Disappearswww.pewresearch.org A quarter of all webpages that existed at one point between 2013 and 2023 are no longer accessible.

Every town should have a publicly owned diner with fixed prices that is open 24 hours.
There was a 24-hr donut shop in town where I grew up, and it was packed from 10 pm-4 am. The gamut of humanity! Vampire: the Masquerade group in one corner, college kids w/math homework, high schoolers goofing off, night owls on laptops, crullers popping out of the oven all night. We need 3rd places
