The NeXTlevel was NeXT Software's first handheld device, eagerly awaited but canned just two weeks from release when Apple purchased NeXT and chose not to pursue gaming. All 250,000 release devices were pulled from channels and unceremoniously rolled into landfill out northwest of Dubbo.
I believe that's the 1992 10th anniversary edition, with a proper color screen, the 1982 version compensated it's black and white LCD screen by using garish colors on the frame.
Wasn’t NeXT a successor to BeOS? If I’m remembering that correctly, then that color makes perfect sense!
I guess it also explains why I like the appearance of my PlayDate so much…
This is amazing because I've often wondered about the alternate universe where the Nintendo DS hit the market with cellular 3 years before the iPhone. And here Apple dumped gaming 7 years before that! www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/01...
at first I chuckled, then I noticed the speakers, and the d-pad, and the bezels, and now I'm wondering if there's anything here you *didn't* tweak from the original DSL
I mean it hasn't even gotten to the part where the screen goes black before revealing the bleeding hollow eyes of the entity "haunting" the games meta narrative who refers to you solely by the name of the user profile on your actual console
But I don't rly like the horses either they got bad vibes
